Carbon-fibre filament: the base material matters
Compare carbon-filled filaments by base polymer, stiffness, heat performance, conditioning and equipment—not the CF label alone.
Read the guide →Understand the base polymer, chopped versus continuous reinforcement and abrasive wear.
Most desktop carbon-filled filament uses short fibres dispersed in a base polymer. That may change stiffness, finish and dimensional behaviour, but does not turn it into continuous-fibre laminate. Compare PLA-CF, PETG-CF and PA-CF as distinct materials, and check nozzle wear, handling and relevant test orientation.
